A new Client for Thompson Construction, the contract was to extend their existing storage warehouse to one side which would house their new fleet of electric powered forklifts.
We knew that we had challenges with the contract, right from tender stage to completion with, overhead power lines, high water tables, untraced existing drainage runs and levels to the existing site, but we over came all of these and built the client exactly what was requested, all within the budgets & programme dates.
Main works consisted of steel frame with composite cladding, new up & over doors and power floated floor, due to the existing site having bad ground piling was required as well as ground beam reinforcement and slab reinforcement.
Internally due to the end use of the building to charge electric vehicles the spilt from old to new had to be 1 hour fire protected.
Overall a great project to contracted to build.

The first medical centre for us and we really enjoyed extending the existing surgery and fully renovating the existing building to produce a magnificent doctor’s surgery where more patients can be seen due to the surgery’s growth.
Two extensions, internal structural alterations, full Plumbing, electrical, fire, CCTV, Intruder and nurse call system with drainage diversions, External carparking all to bring the building up to modern standards.
A very tight a tricky site to work on and manage but we over came this to hit all targets and deliver a great building for this new client.

Another Repeat client & with very tight deadlines throughout, scope of works was to build a new industrial unit which would be their new Drying tunnel, which would connect onto the existing building from both ends and would have a mezzanine first floor for the plant. The building was steel framed, cladding, concrete floor, internal hygienic cladded walls and ceilings with resin floors, complete with full power, lighting and fire detection, all to meet their needs to manufacture & package vitamins, minerals and food supplements worldwide.
Additionally, to the project there was another phase of the work which was included while our team was on site, the first-floor Vegan rooms with ground floor adaptions and alteration within part of the existing factory.
The project was very demanding on hygiene due to what they do daily with all work having to be coordinated to suit their needs and shutdown timescales, nevertheless we collaborated and completed the project for them.

Thompson Construction were contracted to build an extension of the existing production unit extending it by another 60, 000 Sq. Ft. The project was completed under JCT Design & Build.
The new extension was of a portal frame type sat on pad foundations, complete with composite roof cladding complete with a man safe system to the roof and a built-up cladding system to the walls. The structural concrete floor was designed and installed to FM2 as per the clients’ requirements, to each gable end of the building we installed large roller shutter doors to assist with the production line of caravans been moved through them upon completion. Externally comprised of a tarmac finish, Armco safety barriers and a new surface water drainage system.

Thompson Construction built a new 10,000 sq. Ft. building for a new client, the building comprised of a new commercial kitchen, toilets, and a large open plan seating space for the employees for Swift Caravans.
Attached to the building was a great outdoor space for ‘alfresco eating’ covered with Brise Solaire for them summer months. The project was completed within the budgets set out by the client and within the programme constraints to allow them to open to the staff.

This project was to create an additional manufacturing space for a repeat client who are an industry leader for security bollards and defence barriers. We built a new 20,000 sq. Ft industrial unit, this consisted of 90 percent of the building for manufacturing with the remaining 10 percent for a new welfare area and office space. The external requirements where for a concrete yard and an attenuation pond for all the sites surface water.

This build was very challenging due to the ground conditions been very poor and the fall of the land it was built on, along with the client that must remain running constantly 24/7 during the build process. The building was built between two existing units which both has different floor height. Within the new building which was 4,600 sq. ft was a new storage and racking area, new welfare area and new production area, this area included hygienic walls, walk on ceiling and a new Ucrete floor with concrete plinth upstands.
Overall, the project was challenging but we managed to meet all expectation set out within the pre-construction meeting with the client.

We had been contracted to undertake work to two depots one of which was Sheffield, the projects brief was to refurbish the existing building which used to be an existing garage for a well-known car manufacturer. Our works included, refurbishment of the workshops, new and existing roof work, new and refurbishing office space, new and refurbishing welfare areas and parts room, we extended the front of the building to give it a more modern look also in keeping to the corporate colours of Motor depot, this space became the new showroom and sales room.
Many changes were made through out the project consequently resulting in the contract increasing in scale drastically. All built to the clients dates ready for their opening day for sales.

Another repeat client for Thompson Construction, this project was to build an internal 10, 000 Sq., Ft industrial unit within an existing industrial unit, this would create a new workshop with car ramps to it along with preparation bays, offices, and welfare facilities for the mechanics.
To the opposite end of the building, we extended the sales area building in managers offices and then fully fitting out the offices including Mechanic and electrical, Flooring, Fire rated glazing ceilings and decoration.

A new client for Thompson Construction, we were challenged to a tricky 2,200 sq. ft extension to the existing industrial unit, access was very limited, along with the presence of all utilities within the building footprint. We installed a new mezzanine floor to create a new first-floor storage area for the client’s stock.
Within the existing building we installed a new first-floor office space over the existing ground-floor rooms, this was 3000, sq., ft of offices, kitchen break-out area, glazed partitioning and green rooms for live bingo calling.

This build was a conversation of an existing Coach house, Thompson Construction had to undertake significant restoration works to the building to make this safe and adaptable, underpinning, damp proof treatment and lime mortar repointing was just and hand full of these restoration processes.
Thompson Construction then added to the building creating a new four-bedroom house, the house has a fantastic feature, open plan feel to the kitchen space showing off ground floor to first floor ceilings and oak beams and trusses throughout. internally the clients wanted to keep it modern but with features that would stand out and look like those of the original build.
The project saw renewables installed on the house in way on solar panels and air source heat pump complete with an EV charge point for future use.
